Dr Stylianos Pikis graduated from the University of Debrecen, Faculty of Medicine, Debrecen, Hungary in 2005 and received a Masters of Science degree from the School of Public Health of the University of Debrecen in 2008.
He was trained in Neurosurgery at the Department of Neurosurgery at Hadassah Medical Center of the Hebrew University Hospita, Jerusalem, Israel and at the Department of Neurosurgery of the “Korgialenio Benakio” Red Cross Hospital of Athens, Athens, Greece. During his residency Dr Pikis received the “Georgios Foroglou” Award in 2016, and the “Christos Antoniadis” Award in 2017 and published numerous scientific articles.
After Neurological Surgery board certification in Greece, Dr Stylianos Pikis moved to Charlottesville, Virginia where he completed a two-year clinical fellowship in Neuro-oncology and Stereotactic Radiosurgery recognized by the Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training (CAST) in the Department of Neurological Surgery of the University of Virginia, Health System, Virginia, USA.
During his fellowship he participated in several hundreds radiosurgical procedures involving intracranial pathologies and in the publication of more than 60 articles in the field of Intracranial Radiosurgery and has contributed chapters in books, including the 8th edition of Youmans and Winn, “Neurological Surgery” and the third edition of "Intracranial Stereotactic Radiosurgery”. He was one of the co-authors receiving the “Lunsford Leksell Radiosurgery Award” in 2022.
Dr Stylianos Pikis is currently a practising Neurosurgeon - Radiosurgeon at “Mediterraneo” Hospital in Athens, Greece, and at “Apostolos Loukas” Medical Center in Nicosia, Cyprus.
